This book about Diabetes Mellitus is written for the benefit of the communities which can follow Urdu Language. The aim is to make it simple for the people and patients to understand the condition as well as its management. There are many books about diabetes, commonly known as Sugar disease in Pakistan. This book is however unique as it is written by a patient with no previous medical knowledge until he became diabetic.
Diabetes is a common disease in Asian population living in their native countries and abroad. The book explains the role of healthy life style in controlling diabetes. The author is living in United Kingdom since his childhood and likes Urdu Language. Abdul Rais was diagnosed with Type II diabetes in year 2000 and he realised the need for the community awareness about diabetes. His involvement with such work earned him the title of “Diabetic Community Champion”.
The book is printed and distributed by AIMS, a medical organisation involved in community work, both in UK and Pakistan. Its main work is currently done in Sugar Hospital Peshawar, Pakistan. We hope this will be very useful for patients and the book will promote community awareness about Diabetes.
